Relevance of astrostatistics and astroinformatics to education

Astrostatistics is the science of drawing wellgrounded inferences from astronomical data, and astroinformatics involves code, data and machine learning. Scientists have to be aware of appropriate analysis techniques and methods that exist and should be employed to deliver the best inferences. Such awareness can only be achieved with adequate training in the area of Astrostatistics and Astroinformatics. The current curriculum does not take training in this field seriously. WGAA organized a Session on Steps Towards Better Curricula at the 225th AAS meeting in Seattle as reviewed in this White Paper.
